Every year there will be competition between classes. This year Rathnanandhi class stage the play of manuneethicholan. She was given the role of Cholamadevi. we took the dress for Rent. We dressed her in the house itself before going to school. It seems her class co-students praised her.

PONGAL AT OUR HOME

Today we celebrated PONGAL. The kolam and Pongal preparation and family photos are attached.

BHOGI PONGAL

Today we celebrated Bhogi Pongal in the early morning by burning the waste.

The first day of Pongal festival is referred as Bhogi Pongal. It is celebrated on the last day of the Tamil month Margazhi (December – January). Bhogi Pongal is also the first day of the Sankranthi Festival in Andhra Pradesh. In 2012, Bhogi Pongal is on January 14.
Bhogi is often referred as Lord Indra, the Vedic God of thunder and rain. It is also widely believed that Bhogi Pongal is the Indra Vizha festival observed during the Chola period.
Bhogi Pongal is a sort of preparation day for Pongal. The next day is the most important Pongal day which is referred as Thai Pongal or Perum Pongal. On the Bhogi Pongal day people, decorate their homes and buy new vessels and other utensils and food items needed for the Pongal celebration.
A major activity on the day is the burning of things that are of no use. A sort of cleansing ceremony.

Our Tiruchendur visit - Ravindra Pandian

On 28th of August 2009 myself, Rajeswari, Rathnanandhi visited Tiruchendur. We went to Paramankurchi Mutharamman koil. There were many peacock in Tiruchendur which attracted Rathnanandhi. Near Murugan koil Rathnanadhi offered Banana to Kovil Elephant. When we went to Paramankurchi kovil she plucked flowers from the plants and offered to God Vinayagar. On the way back home she celebrated her birthday in train.
